We are pleased to welcome Kari Imoro from the University of Arizona's Art Education student teacher program.  Kari brings a wealth of experience to the City High Arts classes and has been sharing those experiences with students since she started at City High in January.  She is a former Peace Corps and Americorps teacher and is currently a Master's candidate at the UofA in Art Education.
Kari will be leading or assisting in unit instruction in all of the City High Arts classes this semester including a 'Cause' unit in Graphic Arts where students design logos, promotional characters, and posters for a local cause or issue.

Entering its 3rd year, the Stories that Soar book-making project is a collaboration between City High School and SharMoore Productions.  The project involves student writers of elementary school age submitting their stories that are chosen for illustration by City High School students.  This year the CHS Graphic Design students will team up with CHS Photography students to illustrate the young writers' stories.  The stories will be coming from students at Sam Hughes Elementary and upon completion of the project, City High students will visit the young writers to share the books with them.

City High School held its annual video festival, "As We See It" in May at the Screening Room, 127 E. Congress.   Unlike previous years, this year the festival was open to the whole school (not just the Video class).   The program included videos produced in the the 10th grade Humanities class as a part of the innovative "The Civil Rights Era as Our Neighbors Lived It" project.  The "Civil Rights..." project was funded in part by a grant from the AZTEA/Qwest foundation.
The program also included works from VOICES, the after-school program at City High.
The City High Video Productions class organized the event and supplied many outstanding videos as well.  The class is taught through a community collaboration between City High School and Pan Left Productions, the preeminent, progressive media cooperative in Tucson.
Selections from this year's festival can be seen on City High's YouTube channel.
